How we're hoping a small gift can keep Austin healthy

The reality of COVID-19 has been taking its toll on people across the country -- and across the globe. While fear around the illness itself, as well as other impacts of the disease, spread throughout the news and neighborhoods around us, Decent decided to do something different.

The healthcare industry is often the topic of (deservedly negative) conversation in the U.S. As health care grows more expensive and benefits continue to get more and more sparse, many are disheartened by the options that are (or aren’t) available.

Decent believes in changing this axiom by connecting people and communities with affordable, comprehensive health insurance plans. But more than that, Decent believes in integrity, authenticity, and trust. It’s coded into our company’s DNA and is a big part of why we do what we do.

As part of this mission, we saw an opportunity to step in and help the communities we value so much. When the lockdown in Austin was announced, we sent out care packages to our members to help keep spirits up and people safe. These care packages included a mask for each member of the household along with a gift card that people could use for movie rentals or food delivery.

In making it slightly easier for our members to stay home, and equipping them to stay healthy when they inevitably have to leave, we’re hoping that all of Austin can stay a little healthier, which, in turn, enables us to stretch your premiums a little further.

It turns out, this is just what some people needed…

Our message is simple: we’re here for you. If you’re a freelancer or other self-employed person living in the Austin, Texas area, please reach out. We’d love to help you get the health insurance coverage you deserve.

We want to make you love your health insurance. It may sound like an impossible feat, but we’re up to the challenge. We started by identifying an issue: freelancers are often hard-pressed to find affordable health insurance options -- or any options at all. Coupled with the fact that doctor’s visits have become a quota game, we saw a compelling case for change.

That change is illustrated in our three freelancer-friendly plans that offer affordable, comprehensive health care coverage to self-employed individuals. Each of our plans is centered around direct primary care (DPC), meaning that members can see (either in-person or virtually) their doctor whenever they’d like, as often as they’d like without paying anything out of pocket. Primary care is included in the monthly premium, making it super simple and inexpensive to get the care you need. If you’re looking for coverage you’ll love, get a free quote today.
