In Community Impact: Decent Making Big Footprint in Austin

Decent updates

We made the news again! Decent Founder and Chief Executive Officer Nick Soman was interviewed by reporter Iain Oldman of Community Impact, Central Texas’ regional monthly newspaper mailed directly to 900,000+ area homes in Austin.

Oldman wrote on Sept. 10 that “innovative health care insurance company Decent may soon relocate its base of operations to Austin from California.” While the Decent Austin office opened with a couple of employees, “the company will hire further.”

It’s true — we have been impressed with the strong Central Texas community of highly-skilled freelancers and look forward to building our office there.

Just like the story noted, our goal is simple — provide health care coverage to self-employed workers. And not just any type of health plan, but the kind that offers the types of benefits people want and deserve such as unlimited, free primary care visits. We will also soon launch a virtual primary care initiative that connects patients to their local primary care physicians via new telemedicine technologies.

Decent is charting a new path in the health care industry, offering plans to those often left out of the current marketplace — contractors, consultants, entrepreneurs, freelancers, sole proprietors and self-employed professionals who make too much to receive a subsidy on the health insurance marketplace and cannot get health coverage through an employer.
